Custom Programs

Professors at the School of Global Management & Leadership are skilled at designing and delivering customized management development solutions for organizations. Our faculty work with leaders of organizations to assess the current situation, identify the management development "gap" and create a plan addressing it. The return on this investment can be measured in terms of top line improvement, enhanced bottom line results and greater individual growth.

Custom programs may be delivered in short modules addressing discrete topics, such as those listed below. These modules can be tailored for specific audiences and are ideal for organizations requiring a burst of management development activities or a specific topic addressed during a conference or other event.

Custom Module Descriptions

Master a Service Mentality: Making Customer Satisfaction an Everyday Priority and Reality
Service leadership is a critical factor in an organization's attempt to stand out in their respective industries and markets. In this workshop, we will examine three types of marketing efforts that must be successfully implemented for an organization to become a service leader:

    - external marketing efforts, which focus on customers'expectations
    - interactive marketing, which looks at the relationship between service delivery and customer value and satisfaction
    - internal marketing, which identifies activities the organization must carry out to train, motivate, and reward employees and which recognizes the link between employee satisfaction, service delivery, and customer satisfaction

Attracting, Selecting, and Retaining a Talented and Diverse Work Force
In today's rapidly changing environment, most organizations have come to realize that the key to their competitive advantage lies in their ability to attract and retain superior human resources. In particular, having the right talent in each and every role is crucial to success. In addition, organizations able to go beyond affirmative action programs to actually managing diversity as part of their strategy will reap many rewards. This workshop will help leaders learn effective interviewing techniques, how to combat stereotyping, and how to create state-of-the-art selection processes.

Motivating and Inspiring Your Followers Toward Performance Excellence
Extraordinary leaders are able to inspire their followers. This workshop will teach you how to foster a motivating work environment so that those who follow you will be excited to work for you and help you achieve goals at all levels. There are many methods for inspiring and motivating which include factors such as sharing a compelling vision, providing equitable rewards, reinforcing performance-enhancing behavior, designing highly motivating jobs, and creating a climate based on positivity and trust.

Making the "Right" Ethical Decisions: How to Manage "Difficult" Conversations and Challenging Situations
A hallmark of great leadership is the ability to make great decisions. In this workshop, we will focus on proven methods for making the best decisions possible. Since virtually all leaders face ethical dilemmas in their daily work environment, this workshop will pay special attention to the dynamics of ethical decision-making and will provide guidelines about how to make ethical decisions that are pragmatic while still getting the job done.

Becoming a More Effective Negotiator and Manager of Conflict Situations
How do we manage the conflict that may arise among different perspectives? Do you understand your own conflict management style and the styles of those around you? This workshop strives to give you the skills to approach interpersonal confrontations and resolve conflict through collaboration. You will also learn negotiation techniques that will help you achieve win-win agreements.

Self-Awareness: Understanding Your Own Strengths and Weaknesses
Self-awareness is a necessary requirement for effective leadership development so that you can answer the question, "Where do I go from here?" In short, are there discrepancies between how you see yourself and how others see you? In this workshop you will complete a number of self-assessments and will also receive feedback from relevant constituent groups about your leadership skills. You will work with your leadership facilitator to create a personalized development plan.

Taking Leadership to a Higher Level: Crafting and Implementing Vision and Change
Effective leaders need to be able to think and plan beyond the day-to-day issues they face. As such, this workshop will focus on how leaders maintain a future orientation with an emphasis on leading in times of change. Specific topics will include:

    - how leaders stay in-tune with developments outside of the group or organization that necessitate new directions and change
    - specific steps involved in moving the group or organization toward change and innovation
    - crafting and implementing a shared vision and sense of purpose to capitalize on the strategic advantages of the organization
    - building an effective culture and providing leadership that facilitates the implementation of new vision
    - dealing with resistance to change
