Instructors

Dr. Mohan Gopalakrishnan

Mohan Gopalakrishnan is an Associate Professor of Operations Management in the School of Global Management and Leadership at Arizona State University. He received his Ph.D. in Management Science, and M.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Alabama, and a B.S. in Production Engineering from College of Engineering, Guindy, Madras, India. Dr. Gopalakrishnan's teaching experience includes global operations management, airline operations management, operations strategy, technology management, supply chain management,quality management, project management and simulation at executive, graduate and undergraduate levels. He has won numerous teaching honors including the "Distinguished Teaching Award" in the Faculty of Commerce and Administration at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada.

Dr. Gopalakrishnan's primary research interests include production scheduling, maintenance management, quality management, personnel scheduling, warehouse operations planning, supply chain management, and service operations management. Currently, he is coordinating Industry-University studies that address the supply chain problems in a food supply chain for the needy; the operational issues in the retail supply chain dealing with pet products, the technological efficiencies in the card transaction management of a large financial firm, and productivity, quality and innovative initiatives in healthcare management.

Dr. Gopalakrishnan is the author or co-author of numerous articles in journals including the Journal of Quality in Health Care, Management Science, International Journal of Production Research, Journal of Operational Research Society, Production Planning and Control, Interfaces, International Journal of Information Management, Journal of Total Quality Management, Leadership Quarterly, Computers and Industrial Engineering and International Journal of Industrial Engineering.


Dr. Phil Mizzi

Phil Mizzi is an associate professor of Quantitative Business Analysis in ASU's School of Global Management and Leadership. Dr. Mizzi received a Ph.D, from Texas A & M University. At ASU, his courses taught include Statistical Analysis Business Economics and Managerial Decision Making.


Barbara Muller

Barbara Muller is a senior lecturer of accounting in ASU's School of Global Management and Leadership. She received her MBA from Ariziona State University and is a Certified Public Accountant in Arizona and Certified Fraud Examiner. She is the Chairwoman of the Certification Advisory Committee of the Arizona State Board of Accountancy whose mission is to review and evaluate candidates' applications both to sit for the CPA exam and to become licensed CPAs in Arizona. She has served as a Trustee, Secretary and Treasurer of the Arizona Society of CPAs Foundation for Education and Innovation whose mission is to develop and award new grants and scholarships to further the accounting profession. She has also completed the FBI Citizens' Academy. At ASU, her courses taught include External Financial Reporting, External Auditing, Internal Auditing, Fraud Accounting, and Financial Planning and Reporting.


Dr. Adegoke Oke

Adegoke Oke is an Assistant Professor of Management and Quantitative Business Analysis in the School of Global Management and Leadership at Arizona State University. He received his Ph.D in Operations Management for which he was awarded a prize for the best Doctoral dissertation, and an MBA from Cranfield School of Management, Cranfield University, UK. He received a BEng. in Civil Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria.

Dr Oke's teaching interests are in the areas of Innovation Management, Operations Management, Project Management, Supply Chain Management and Quantitative Business Analysis. He has consulted for, taught and directed a number of customized executive development programs for large organizations including Shell, Fujitsu, BOC gases, AXA insurance, Royal bank of Scotland, Virgin Atlantic, Schering Pharmaceuticals, Cryovac Sealed Air, Royal Sun Alliance, Northern Foods, UK Manufacturing Institute, BAT and Imperial Tobacco.

Prior to a career in academia, Goke was a Project Manager for Shell for 8 years and an Operations Analyst for a UK based steel manufacturing organization (Allied Steel) for 2 years. While at Shell, he managed 4 major Oil and Gas projects worth over $80 million concurrently during 1992 and delivered all four beating deadlines by one month. This accomplishment saved Shell more than $15 million worth of potential downtime claims. He also led an internal consulting team and implemented various initiatives within Shell.

Dr Oke's primary research interests include innovation management, managing risks in supply chains and achieving flexibility in operations. He is currently involved in a joint academia-industry initiative focused on productivity, innovation and quality issues in healthcare and other sectors. He has published over 18 articles in various academic and practitioner journals. He is a Chartered Engineer, a UK Advanced Institute of Management Scholar, a Frank Batten Scholar of the College of William and Mary and a member of several professional associations including the Production and Operations Management Society, Product Development Management Association, European Operations Management Society, International Society for Inventories Research, Decision Sciences Institute and Nigerian Society of Engineers.


Dr. Shakil Quayes

Shakil Quayes is an assistant professor of Economics in ASU's School of Global Management and Leadership. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Illinois. Courses taught at ASU include Microeconomic Principles. Shakil's teaching experience includes Money & Banking, International Monetary Economics, Macroeconomics, and Managerial Economics. His primary research interests are in the areas of Monetary Economics, Labor Economics, and Development Economics. Before going back to school for his Ph.D., Shakil worked for Australia New Zealand Bank in its Corporate Banking Division in Bangladesh, as an Account Manager.
